Projects
At present 600 (four
hundred) orphan and destitute boys and 150 (one hundred
and fifty) orphan and destitute girls are being reared
up in this Mission.
Generally the orphans and
destitute children become a burden and liability to
themselves, to their families and to the society at
large. So taking these facts into consideration,
Faridpur Muslim Mission authority has undertaken some
projects with a view to making the orphan and destitute
inmates of the Mission an asset of the society, instead
of allowing them to become liability to themselves, to
their families and to the society as well.
The adopted projects are as
follow :
Maktab and Hefzkhana :
A Maktab and a Hefzkhana
have been established in the premises of Muslim Mission
to teach the Holy Quran and to teach them elementary
knowledge about Islam, necessary Dua, Kalimas, manners
and behaviours approved by Islam.
Having finished preliminary
learning the intending and meritorious learners are
selected to memorize (Hefz) the Holy Quran.

Madrasah & College :
Faridpur Muslim Mission has established a Dakhil Madrasah (SSC level) in its premises with an end to impart religious as well as general education to the orphan inmates of the Mission. In this Madrasah, there are four branches of education : Science, Humanitaties, Religious & Vocational. Having passed from this Madrasah, the orphan inmates obtain the Certificate to get themselves admitted into HSC Science, Commerce, Humanities, Technical & other Higher Educations in Colleges & Polytechnic Institutions.
So, in order to pave the way to Higher Education for the inmates of the Mission & the poor students of surrounding areas in the fields of Science, Arts, Business Studies, Islamic Studies and Technical Education approved by Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka and Bangladesh Technical Education Board, a college named 'Faridpur Muslim Mission College' had been established in July 2002.

Technical Training Centre :
In January 1992, a high-powered team of IDB visited Faridpur Muslim Mission. This team included His Excellency, the then Vice-President Mr. Fuad Abdullah Al Omar, His Highness the Executive Director Professor Kargut Uzal, His Highness the Executive Director Mr. Lamin Dayuf, His Highness the Executive Director Haji Junaidi Bin Haji Hasheem, the Chief of Policy & Planning Division, Dr. Abdul Aziz Jalloh and Chief of Operation Division Mr. Farukuzzaman. Being fully satisfied at the activities of the Mission, they immediately came forward to help the Mission. With their (IDB) donation of a sum of US $ 3,00,000.00, a Vocational & Technical Training Centre was established in the Mission premises before long. In this Technical Training Centre, trainings on 7 (seven) Trades i.e., Machinery, Welding, Carpentry, Electrical works, Electronics, Dressmaking & Tailoring and Computer Science are being conducted since its inception.

Some Other Projects :
Besides, the Mission is
running a Nursery, a Cattle Farm, a Poultry Farm and
Five Pisciculture Farms as income-generating sources of
its own. At interval of their daily routine, the boy
inmates work in these farms. The income from these
projects is, however, not enough to meet the need.
The Mission extends games, sports and cultural facilities and encourages these extra-curricular activities to the extent that the inmates are able to participate in Regional & National parades, games, sports & cultural activities with peak success achieving every body's praise and appreciation.

Accommodations :
Once the residential problem for the inmates of the Mission was very acute. They used to live an inhuman life huddling together in three tinsheds and some thatched houses. This pathetic scene greatly moved the kind soul of late Mohammad Nizamuddin, the then Director General of Social welfare Ministry. As a result of his sincere and repeated efforts, the benevolent Govt. kindly sanctioned money in phases to construct two six-storied Residential Buildings, one for 500 (five hundred) orphan boys and another for 400 (four hundred) orphan girls.
The completion of construction of these two dormitories have created enough accommodation both for male & female inmates.

Helth Care for the Inmates :
The Mission has created a Health Care Centre to provide with all possible medical cares and facilities for the orphan inmates, both male and female. One Medical Officer, two Paramedics, two Word Boys & a Sister serve the inmate patients here.

Monthly Expenditure : The most acute problem of
the moment :
Although the development works of the Mission have been implemented step by step with the help of Government and non-Government grants, we have no regular sources of income to meet the recurring expenditure for rearing up 400 (four hundred) orphan and destitute boys & 200 (two hundred) orphan and destitute girls. We require a sum of taka Seventeen lacs ($22,000.00 approximately) a month to meet this recurring expenditures for food, cloth, education and medical cares of the inmates. If the Mission is expanded more, the expenditure will increase further. At present, we have to depend on some irregular donations, Charity, Zakat, etc. with all uncertainty. Sometimes the problem stands so acute and unbearable that we feel panicky of the closure of the orphanage. So, we need to have some sort of regular sources of income for which we earnestly draw the attention of the Govt. as well as the kind donors from home and abroad.
